Social media Advertisements

Reflective Report
In this report on the process of creating various ads which included a textual ad, a banner ad and two social media ads, I will be talking about my experience of the process before setting up each ad and my experience creating each ad, how easy I found it to go through the entire process and if I came across any difficulties along the way.

I will begin by addressing my experiences during the process of creating the advertisements. First and foremost, I am not the most gifted student using the various google manager features. This inexperience showed when creating each advertisement as it was a slow process for myself. Having the videos on Moodle to help me along the process was very beneficial as it allowed me to understand what I was doing in the set-up process and understand why I am selecting the various features in order to ensure my ads are effective and follow the guidelines set by google. The in depth videos described how to complete the process of making the three advertisements from start to finish.

The first bit of issue I found in the process was not actually involved with creating the ads themselves it was the responsiveness of my laptop where it would take time to acknowledge my choices and selected features, it also took quite a while to enter into the google ads manger page where we began the creation of the various ads. These minor delays accumulated into spending hours creating the ads which could have been completed all together in around two to three hours as the process is very straight forward.

Another issue I faced which I will go into more detail about when talking about the social media advertisements was being unable to select an image to place in the Facebook and Instagram ads. Although it was a problem, I created for myself not knowing all of the sizes needed in order for the social media ad to work. I did eventually solve my problem by going to Moodle and finding the necessary sizing for the social media ad to work.
Textual AD:
The textual ad was created in the google ads manager account we set up at the beginning of the second semester this year in our lab classes. Having these accounts set up previously and having a brief understanding of the google ads manager process was vital for setting up the ads. As I mentioned previously, I am not at all gifted with the skills of knowing how to use google ads manager, but I was able to look up videos on YouTube to give myself a better understanding of it before the assignment was given to us, which made the experience a slight bit easier for myself.
I used the four videos dedicated to creating the google text ad throughout the creation of my ad as I wanted to make sure I created it properly and to follow the guidelines put in place by google in order for my text ad to show on google.
Throughout the process of making the text ad I had no issues as the videos where extremely descriptive and allowed me to know what I was setting up and why I was doing it that way.
Banner AD:
The banner ad was the easiest of the three ads to set up in my opinion, I found it easy as google made the layout as simple as possible to follow along and create it in any way you wanted. A lot of the banner ads make up was to do with the audience and keywords, the audience was based around location and the keywords was based around what people will search on google before they see your banner ad.

I found this process extremely straight forward and the process to complete the banner ad is above. The video on Moodle that went along with the process was almost unnecessary, but I did in fact still use it to be sure of what I was doing in the creation process.

The most challenging aspect of this process was to know what size the advertisements must be in order for google to accept them, these could all be found on google along with how the ad will look which made the decision process a lot easier to complete and too all the difficulties out of this process.
Social Media AD:
The social media ad process was also very simple as you could create the ad with the video by your side allowing you to go through the creation at a fast speed. The only problem I faced as I briefly mentioned before was selecting an image for the social media ad. I had this problem because image that I wanted to use was too small and Facebook ads manager would not allow me to select or use it. I did not realize this for about half an hour until the video got up to speed and I seen the problem lied with my sizing. I then adjusted the size of the image using Canva to make it “1080x1080 px”, which allowed me to use the image and finish the social media ad.

Other than that, I had no other difficulties I managed to get through the creation process rather quickly. Facebook ads manager was not as easily laid out as google AdWords was but still the process was quite similar as the video accompanied explained every detail of the creation process in detail.
